Ever Dream of the Cabin Life?

Have you ever wondered if you could get through the rest of the day? Sometimes a weekend cabin getaway sounds like paradise after the hustle and bustle of life. Just imagine how nice it would be to have your very own cabin where you and your loved ones could go and relax – whenever you wanted!

Although there are several types of ways to achieve the cabin life, we certainly have a recommendation that helps to improve your cabin building experience.  There are 3 main types of cabin builds – cabin kits, stick built cabins, and modular log cabins. But which option is the best?

Cabin Kits

Loss Of Quality

Although there are many cabin kits on the market, they are definitely not all the same quality. A common saying in the log home business is, “You can build a bad log home with good logs, but it’s very difficult to build a good log home with bad logs”. Unless you are an experienced cabin builder, it can be difficult to find a cabin kit that is made with quality, precision, and easy to understand.

Time Consuming Cabin Life

But aside from limited quality and design, cabin kits can be very time consuming. Even if you consider yourself relatively handy, it will take some serious effort to understand and construct a simple cabin kit. The cabin kits on the market certainly do not include many extra features, and often there are a myriad of surprises in store for you. When you are looking for a log cabin as a retreat, chances are that you want a break from work.  Often cabin kits create an additional stress in your life and take up valuable time. Instead, why not use that precious time to go hunting, fishing, or exploring the outdoors with your family?

Hidden Costs

Although it might sound tempting to buy a cabin kit instead of a prebuilt cabin home, time is valuable when you want to relax and take a vacation. Even though cabin kits are cheaper initially, by the time you do all the legal paperwork, hire a contractor, and pay for all the supplies, there is a good chance that you will be over your budget. With our modular log cabins, you will be able to know the final cost and not have to worry about all the hidden costs that come with log cabin kits. At Zook Cabins, even though we could offer cabin kits, we simply do not want our customers to go through the stress and headaches with all the legal things. Our goal is to make it easy, fun, and memorable for you!

Stick Built Cabin Life

Building On Site

With stick built cabins, all of the construction happens on site. All of the lumber is brought to the construction site and assembled one stick at a time. However, with stick built construction, there are several disadvantages. While it might seem that having everything on one site is more efficient, on site construction is very susceptible to the weather. There have been many situations where a cabin was partially built when snow, rain, or other bad weather arrived on the scene. If your cabin is only partially constructed when rain comes, your rafters, beams, and floor joists get soaked and can take time to dry out. If not properly treated, wet lumber will tend to warp or crack when it dries out making the structure weaker and more difficult to work with.

Longer Time Frame

Often when people want to build a cabin, they want it to be done sooner rather that later. With stick built cabins, there are numerous factors like weather, inspectors, and break downs that can delay construction for weeks. The last thing you want is to have a long, drawn out process preparing for your cabin life!

Pricier

Contrary to what some people believe, stick built construction tends to be pricier than other construction options. Often there are several hidden costs that arise. If something is not approved by an inspector or bad weather arises, construction is put on hold making it more time consuming and expensive. Here at Zook Cabins, we are proud to offer our modular homes. Unlike stick built cabins, your modular cabin building process can be quick, affordable, and stress free! We will take care of the construction, delivery, and assembly of your cabin on your property. With quality Amish workmanship and special attention to detail, we know that you will love your modular cabin that will be built just the way you like it!

Easy Process For Cabin Life

Although modular cabins were not common back in the day, today they are one of the most common ways of construction for cabin life. At Zook Cabins, we offer an impressive array of prebuilt cabin home styles and designs. To make it as easy as possible for you, we include a 12 step program to help you plan and execute the construction of your new cabin. To get a taste of how easy and straightforward the process is, check out Fred Eibling’s Cabin Project Diary where he explains everything about his cabin life from a first-hand experience.

Weather Safe Construction

Since all of our construction happens inside our giant warehouse, the weather never slows us down. We are able to construct your cabin year around regardless of the weather. This way the rafter, floor joists, and beams will never get warped or cracked from the rain and snow. We love that we can install everything in your cabin without having to lose quality of the materials due to inclement weather.

Save Time On Construction

Also, since we can build all year long, we are able to complete your cabin much faster than stick built construction. Regardless of the weather or time of year, we are able to dedicate 100% of our time to getting your cabin finished for you. No one wants to wait a year or two to have his cabin built. Especially when you have just finished all your blueprint drawings and your excitement is running high! Roughly 85% of the construction is done at our location, and then we deliver the components to your property where our team of professional carpenters completes the installation.

Various Design Options

Contrary to what most people think, our modular homes come in a variety of options. In our cabin living options, we do not have a “one size fits all” approach. We know that you want your cabin to be unique and reflect your personal style as much as possible. That is why we offer numerous options for size, style, and floor plans to help you find the best fit for your cabin!

Lower Cost and Easier Financing

Many loan companies are beginning to realize that modular cabins have a much lower risk rate than other construction buildings. Loan companies will be quick to offer you a loan, especially when they know it’s a modular cabin. But also, modular cabins are already very affordable. Since we can do the main construction, inspection, and fine details at our shop, we are able to offer a more affordable price overall. You will be glad to save yourself the stress and the money when it comes to your building your cabin for your special cabin life.

Stress Free For You

Since most people do not build cabins every day, they do not understand how much work it takes for inspections, meeting building codes, and organizing contractors and materials. One of our biggest features we offer is that we will do all the hard work for you. We do everything such as construction, plumbing, wiring, and insulation. We even make sure to build your cabin to meet construction codes and local building requirements. We are happy to do the work for you so that you can spend your time planning and dreaming for your future cabin life!
